aug favTexas summers suck. Sorry to be blunt but I hate hot weather! One of the upsides though is that you don’t have to wear as much makeup. Maybe your skin is sunkissed from spending the afternoon on the boat, hiking the Green Belt, or on a beach elsewhere to escape the heat for a few days. It could be a shift in my attitude about face makeup and foundation, but in the last few months I find myself wearing the very bare minimum and just spot treating any blemishes or redness and leaving my skin bare. Adding a dab of bronzer, highlighter, cream shadow, minimal liner, and either chapstick or a bold color has been my MO for the summer. Here are some of my favorites this month!

Lush Eyeliner and Eyeshadow- I am sad that I have not discovered how amazing Lush makeup products are sooner. I’m a sucker for their face masks, shampoos and exfoliators so of course their makeup would be wonderful too! The liners and shadows are intensely pigmented, blend easily with a finger or a brush and stay put for hours. I can’t wait to collect some more!

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer- A little bit goes a long way with this product. I just spot treat and blend.

MAC Eyeliner in Chocolate Brown or L’Oreal Super Slim Eyeliner- I either tightline my upper lids or give myself a little cat eye for liner.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Mascara- I usually stick to drugstore brand mascara since I go through it so much but I really have fallen in love with anything and all things from his line so when it promised 300% more volume in ONE stroke, I had to try it immediately. Super dark, rich black pigments deliver dramatic and drool-worthy lashes.

NYX Cosmetics Whipped Cream Lip+Blush duo- again, low mait. is key in the summer time. This product is great for giving just a hint of color.

Bumble & Bumble Surf Infusion Spray- I use heat on my hair maybe once every two or three weeks. I love using this spray after the shower, scrunching, then letting my hair air dry into beach waves.

Lush Feeling Younger Highlighter- K, I haven’t been this obsessed with a product for YEARS and I love that its all natural! Like I stated earlier, I’m kicking myself that I haven’t tried lush cosmetics before this summer. I am almost out of the jar and I’ve had it for less than 2 months. I use one index finger of it every damn day on my “C” starting from my brow bones to the top of my cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, cupid’s bow and the rest on my clavicle. Don’t let the white scare you- it is THE perfect color. I’ve gotten a million compliments on my own skin and on shoots when I’ve used it on my models and clients. It is AWESOME.

E.L.F. Cosmetics Bronzer Quad- Spot treat, highlight, bronze. Ha, now that I’m typing it out I guess I do use more on my face than I thought but the bronzer is to warm up my skin at night and what’s a summer without bronzer?

As for lips I like to either just use a chapstick, like this beautiful citrus Eminence lip balm or a bold color. I love how a bold lip can elevate your look. These Maybelline Color Blur sticks were a great find at the drugstore. Their new Loaded Bolds look incredible too- (HURRY UP FALL!)

Stay Tuned for my Sept. Faves!
