Bridal makeup is one of my favorite things to do as a makeup artist. I love that I get to be such an integral part of a bride’s special day. There is so much time, effort, planning, and love that goes into each and every little detail that can make their wedding one of the most magical days of their lives.

As their makeup artist, the most important factor in deciding which kind of look they would like to achieve is of course..the dress! I get to have the ultimate sneak peek of what the bride will be turning heads in. One of my biggest goals is that the groom loves her makeup just as much as she does! I want all of my brides to feel confident, happy and beautiful!

That is why I was ecstatic when Loverly asked me to pick a few dresses and coordinate makeup looks for each wedding gown. Let me tell you, it was VERY hard to pick just one, so I chose four 🙂

2638354_orig l-2Something that is a bit challenging to work with on a bride is color! I want my brides to feel like the prettiest version of themselves while still trying to make suggestions of what would look best with the dress itself. I’ll be honest, I usually lose the battle, so I wanted to pull some fun dresses that I could push the boundaries a bit while still maintaining a bridal flare.

Rose gold and purples are essentials in my kit for my brides and a lot of girls are comfortable with the soft hue! I chose the Vera Wang gown featured above to play that up!

A quick scribble of Laura Mercier’s Eye Caviar Stick in Amethyst on the lid, smudged just above the brow bone and along the lower lash line can create a gorgeous rose gold metallic smokey eye that is just right. Line the eyes with Laura Mercier’s Kohl Eye Pencil in Black Violet and diffuse with a smudge brush to give the eyes a romantic essence, finish with YSL’s Baby Doll Mascara for luscious lashes. Dust on a bit of rose colored Illuminating Powder on your cheeks and finish with a swipe of Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bellisima and you will turn into a blush-ing bride!

This dress (that is under $500!) screams classic romance to me. A softly diffused hazelnut smokey eye with chocolate eyeliner tight-lined across the top lids finished off with black mascara, hint of neutral contouring, and velvety matte red lips help achieve this look.

How gorgeous is this Monique Lhuillier gown below?! This intricate high-neck asymmetrical tulle dress speaks for itself so for this dress I would keep the makeup fairly neutral with one tiny twist just for some extra fun.

Peachy Lips and Cheeks pair nicely with a taupe eye. I’m dying to get my hands on this Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye-Con No.3 trio. Equipped with glitter, matte, and lustrous eyeshadow you can create a neutral eye with loads of dimension for little effort! Easy and cool-yes, please. Top top it off- I want to make my brides eyes POP! The little gold flecks in Laura Mercier’s Kohl Eye Pencil in Black Gold will pick up and reflect any light colors in your iris.

Now the twist- finish with COLORED mascara! Sounds nuts on your wedding day, I know.. but it really does make your eye color stand out. To keep it from looking too garish, make sure you stick with a subtle hint of color like navy or burgundy. (*Can sub for dark brown or black mascara!)

Saved my favorite for last! I wanted to do something fun again with color. I love the thought of having blue on a wedding dress- you can check off “Something New” and ” Something Blue” with just your dress! This Oscar de la Renta is incredible. The silhouette, color, and mixed materials are straight dreamy. I love the way they have it styled on the runway as well- sleek bun and those beautiful drop earrings are wonderful compliments to the dress.

As for the makeup, I would keep it very natural with the only exception of Laura Mercier’s Eye Caviar Stick in Mint Snow softly blended along the lower lash line and on the tear duct for a subtle shimmer to bright out the color of the dress more and add some interest to her eyes.
