Happy 2016! I wanted to wait a bit for everyone to kind of come down off of the hard hitting New Year’s Resolutions suggestions flooding every inch of your life. Emails and plugs on each portal of social media with every sale imaginable to get you prepped with everything you need to start working out more, eating healthier, get organized, to better yourself and live a more wholesome life overall. I think the glimmer of resolutions are quite romantic the first week of January. Major props to those who actually set and follow them throughout the whole year- that SNL sketch Drake did a few years ago always comes to mind– haha. I have friends who didn’t last one day!

Personally, I believe that if you choose to set a resolution, it should be something a bit more broad. If you set limits that are too restrictive, you will most likely get frustrated and give up altogether too easily and feel defeated. Beginning with a small goal is something that may be attainable.

I particularly liked what my yoga instructor said in class the other day. She was talking about how she is choosing to think and be more positive in her daily life. It makes so much sense! There is beauty in simplicity, and something as little as just making the conscious effort to be more positive is genius. It can apply to any aspect in your life.

Be happy that you made it to your workout class instead of skipping it. Enjoy the cold, rainy weather while it lasts-we’ll have 110 degree weather in no time! If you are sure the burger is going to be more satisfying than any healthy food that day is going to make you happy, do it! Get into bed one hour earlier, or stay one hour later. Take a cell phone time out for a day to unplug or pick it up to connect with friends you haven’t spoken to in a while. Make a done list rather than a to-do. Take that extra time to make sure you’re checking in on yourself and that you turn a positive spin on whatever may pop up in your day. The act may not come into full fruition, but just the thought and effort is a good start and may motivate you to go even further!

I have to admit that this year has been filled with peaks and valleys. I’m a very anxious person and have the tendency to put so much pressure on myself professionally or personally to where I shut down or get sick. My physical and mental health this year was slightly more on the downside but after my overseas trip and the loss of my precious Silas, I learned that my most of symptoms were not situational. In a chain of doctors appointments, I finally got some answers and chose to try and be positive and do what I can to feel my best back in September and rather set a new resolution, I want to continue on this path of trying.

One of the best things that I kind of lost sight of, but am swinging back into motion is actually learning to be selfish. Not in a bad way(!!) but in a way to where I actively put myself first in a professional or personal setting to make sure I don’t get myself stuck in a stressful or uncomfortable situation. I am very much like my Dad. A lot of my happiness comes from making others happy and I often sacrifice my own feelings to meet my goals. I have a hard time saying no to people or turning down opportunities. I am learning that no is not a cuss word. I am only one person, with a certain amount of time allotted to my clients and myself. Making sure I’m doing what I can to take care of myself mentally, physically and emotionally, in a positive light is the best way I can cater to  all areas in my life.

Of course, I kind of veered off track! With all of that being said, for those of you who choose to put yourself first and want to try something new and positive for the new year, I would love to offer up my services at a discount!

Makeup RX Process

Refresh
Think of your makeup drawer like your closet—with every new season it’s time to purge the products you haven’t used in awhile, and rethink the way you use your current products, just as you would with your wardrobe. Through an in-home consultation, I determine your specific coloring, face and eye shape, followed by a lesson on how to achieve the looks you’re after. I assess what you have in your current collection and suggest ways to work with those products as well as what you need to add.

Revamp
After I’ve created a customized list of cosmetics and tools that I believe would be perfect additions to your collection, it’s time to shop! I can accompany you (or meet you) at the store of your choice, whether it’s CVS, Ulta, Sephora, or a department store, to help find products that will help you achieve your desired looks. My personalized shopping service is meant to fit each individual face specifically, and that includes women with different budgets. One of my favorite things about the makeup industry is that it doesn’t cost a million bucks to look like it! I try to incorporate high-end pieces with lower ones in my closet and I do the same with makeup. I have the knowledge of what is out there, so whatever your budget, I will mix and match and make it work.

Rethink
Makeup RX will help you rethink your makeup for years to come. Along with a fresh new makeup collection, you will be armed with timeless tips so you always know when it’s time to toss your mascara, on what occasions you should reach for pink, not red, and how to achieve a flawless face in 5 minutes. It is a short, but valuable, lesson that continues teaching for a very long time.
