Since I am not going to be in town to do makeup, I wanted to share what I would be rocking around town. Below are some of my favorite spring looks I’ve been itching to try, some are more of my mood, and some I thought would be easy to execute and are low maintenance for the long days that transition so easily into the night.I know the weather we’ve been having lately has been nuts, but I think the sun is finally going to make an appearance and stay for the next few weeks. Brings me to my first point, sunscreen is key. I’m such a freak about sunscreen because it really is so important! Be sure to get your entire body especially if you plan on whipping out your short shorts or showing off your shoulders or arms. Be sure that your foundation, bb cream, tinted moisturizer etc. has some sort of SPF in it! One of my fav drugstore picks: Revlon’s photoready BB cream. Goes on in one swoop: hydrates, smoothes pores and fine lines, has nice coverage like a foundation but is lightweight, and has SPF 30 for under $15 bucks! Their concealer is fab too. Next I would choose a bronzer just to warm the complexion up a tad, finish with some highlighter along the top of your cheek bones for some dimension and a dab or cream blush in a neutral or bright color to create a great look for your face.

Now that your face is complete, focus on what you’d like to enhance that day. Lately I’ve been kind of into the monotone look, keeping my eyes, cheeks and lips all close or in the same hue. Lavender/grey/purple has been my fav during this gloomy weather and I can’t stop wearing my Dedemona dual eyeshadow from Nars, I’m obsessed with the array of colors in this one shadow-it allows me to play up magenta and maroon. Now that the weather is changing, I want to switch gears a bit and really focus on one feature.

In all of my pictures I chose for SXSW one thing is common among them, one feature is highlighted and the other is left bare. If you want to play up your eyes, I do suggest adding a bit of color to your chapstick to avoid looking washed out, and if you at choosing to play up your lips, be sure to add at least one coat of mascara to have some definition.

Most of these looks are just one or two strategic steps. Bold lips- super dark or bright colors would be the perfect topper to your look. Bobbi Brown’s new Art Sticks are so pretty! Neon or colored liner is one of my all time favorite tricks- just a single pop of color to the eyes along the outer third of the eye or along the water rim is so fun and easy! Urban Decay’s 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eyeliner in Black for graphic or smudged liner screams rockstar. And bits of glitter make a statement- try MAC’s Glitter Pigment in bronze or copper. Really any color and style is fair game for SXSW, there are going to be so many looks on the streets, get inspired by the time of year, your outfits, and the music to fit your vibe!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Southby!
