Hello everyone!

I am SO excited to share my first magazine feature! Check out my fall fashion picks in the September Style issue of Tribeza Magazine!

I was nervous to be in front of the camera since I am used to being behind the scenes on the production side of a project. I felt so awkward posing but Julie Cope, the photographer, made me feel more at ease and I was also comforted by how great this opportunity was. Very happy with the final product! Julie, Lauren, Ashley, and to everyone else who helped put this together at Tribeza, thank you so much for this special feature, I am truly grateful!

Here is my commentary on my fall picks and the full interview!

My picks:

Vince Flared Leather Skirt  Skirts are a new thing for me. I live in jeans if I’m not wearing a dress. I always thought I couldn’t pull a skirt off until I tried this one on. It’s a great combo of edgy, girly and sophisticated. The drop waist mini has a flirty skirt that gives me some curves (which is nice since i am straight up and down) and shows off my legs without the length making me uncomfortable! Obviously this was on my dream wish list because of the price point- I found an amazing pleather style at forever21 which was so luxe looking for only $20!

Alexis Bittar Mauritius Gold& Antique Rhodium Hanging Spider Monkey Earrings I fell in love with how enchantingly creepy these earrings are. The skull of the monkey reminds me of Gollum. They really are like little pieces of art. The shape and colors look like something you’d find in the ocean but then there’s this little creature carefully draped around the stones. They’re silver and gold so they go with anything, but they elevate your look instantly. I love to mimic my eye makeup to the color of the earrings. They look great with jeans and a t-shirt or with a dress for a wedding! No matter the occasion, I always get complimented on them!

Rebecca Minkoff Elle Mini Handbag This bag is amazing. Other than my occasional clutch, I can’t recall a time where I have worn a purse or handbag that doesn’t have a cross-body strap. They look neat, but I love the functionality of the cross-body strap to be hands-free. This purse has a great shape to it, and look at those colors! I’ve been a huge fan of Christopher Marley for years and this bag reminds me of why he makes his art-how bugs and insects are that colorful and beautiful naturally- blows my mind, and this bag is reminiscent of his work.

Same goes for the Tory Burch ‘Easton’ Smoking Slippers. They look like something I will live in all Fall. I’ve worn two pairs of studded smoking slippers into the ground over the past two or three years. They’re great for working on my feet for long hours while looking stylish and polished yet being comfortable. The beetle is so cute and different! I tend to gravitate to all black, so I love how these plush slippers have a pop of bright color and texture.

BrAun Men’s Classic Watch in Black. I’m copying Kyler, my chiropractor. His watch grabbed my attention while he was adjusting me the other day and showed me this brand online and I saw this one with the black face. This men’s watch is perfectly simple, no bells and whistles, just an all black watch with the numbers clearly visible. The leather strap surrounding the large face is great for me too since I am allergic to some metals. Love borrowing looks from the men!

Nars “Fairy’s Kiss’ Eyeshadow Palette  This palette is a necessity for fall. Mixing two of makeup’s hottest trends, barely there makeup and a new sense of grunge, these updated neutrals are the perfect rich hues to compliment any look you’re prepared to try this fall and winter. The lighter shades are ideal for a hint of color throughout the day, then you can use the deeper shades to build a sexy smokey eye to whisk you away into the night. The combination of colors in this palette are endless, I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

The Interview:

-How long have you been in Austin?

Born and raised Austinite, just like my dad. I spent one year in Houston but I’ve been here my whole life. I am thrilled to be home again. Living in Houston really made me appreciate this wonderful city.

-What are your favorite shopping spots in Austin?

I stop at Urban Outfitters, Forever21-great for trendy pieces without spending a ton, Luxe, Anthropologie-love their cookbook selection, St. Bernard’s, Blue Elephant, Nordstrom etc. I can’t wait to stop in Fawn+Raven and Austin Rocks too.

-What are your three favorite restaurants in Austin? / What’s your favorite thing to order there?

This one is going to be hard. My favorite thing to do is dine out with my family or friends. Austin is such a great place to do so.

Cisco’s hands down. It’s my family’s Sunday morning ritual. Honestly, their cold hot sauce is my favorite thing to order there-it’s my comfort food, great on anything on their menu. My go-to is the Huevos Rancheros; their migas, and chicken enchiladas are outstanding too-oh and you can’t forget one of their biscuits!

Taco Deli: if I could live off of one food item for the rest of my life it would be tacos.. The Otto is my favorite. Black refried beans, avocado, Monterey cheese and a strip of bacon–the only way it can get any better is with tons of their Doña sauce and their Habanero sauce slathered on top.. I usually take home an 8 ounce container of both to use on basically anything in my fridge throughout the week. I make it a personal goal of mine to light my mouth on fire with something spicy everyday..to say I love hot sauce is an understatement.

Perla’s is another great spot. I’ve had lots of great memories made over their meals: my best friend’s college graduation, catching up with an old friend over lunch, blind date, birthdays, and sharing some one on one time with my Dad when the rest of the fam is out of town. Which brings me to my favorite thing to order there: the Baked Shells. For some odd reason that my sisters and I will never understand, our Dad does not care for mac-n-cheese..but I got him to try it at Perla’s because I think it’s the best in town! Their seafood is amazing. I usually order the grilled fish of the day with the salsa verde-perfect to go with their baked shells!

(Favorite new restaurant: Searsucker. Ate there twice in a week and a half, can’t wait to try their brunch)

What do you look forward to the most about the fall season?

The weather! It can’t cool down quick enough for me! Summer is coming to an end and there are so many wonderful things to look forward to that the cooler weather brings: sweaters, TV shows returning, Honey Crisp apples, ACL Festival, reuniting with my college friends for football weekends, dressing up for Halloween, and spending time with my family and friends for Thanksgiving, Christmas &New Year’s–all while being able to wear what I’d like to, not what I have to because it’s 103 degrees out!

-What are your favorite things about fall fashion?

Fall fashion is what I’m most comfortable and confident in. The dark and bold colors, getting bundled up-I can’t wait. I always feel a bit more put together in the Fall because you’re open to more options. I do have a tendency to stick with my basics! A good pair of dark jeans, a comfy sweater, boots and a great jacket really do the trick. I wear a lot of black so I try to choose shoes, jewelry, and purses that have something special about them to make my outfit subtlety unique.

-What are some things you are currently working on?

Looking forward to my bridal clients that I have scheduled! Doing the makeup for weddings is so fun. Everyone is so happy and excited. It’s a great joy to be a part of someone’s special day.

I’m taking a photoshop and photography class to help improve my blog. I’m actually hoping to start searching for an intern/assistant in the upcoming months too!

Thanks
Hope everyone is as excited for fall as I am!

Take care!
